Send Network One Day is a local, one-day event designed to inspire and equip pastors, church planters, leaders, and Jesus followers for multiplying disciples and churches in the Twin Cities. This fall’s theme is Christian Contentment in a Restless World.
We live in a restless age. We are surrounded by reasons to complain, compare, worry, and wish our circumstances were different. But the apostle Paul learned to be content in every situation — and Christians today can learn the same.
Our keynote speaker, Pastor Andrew Davis, will help us consider how the sufficiency of Christ, the sovereignty of God, and the promises of Scripture enable Christians to possess deep and durable joy in every circumstance.
Andrew Davis has served as senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Durham, North Carolina, since 1998. He is the founder of Two Journeys Ministry and a visiting professor of church history at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Before coming to Durham, he and his family served as missionaries in Japan. He is the author of several books, including The Power of Christian Contentment: Finding Deeper, Richer Christ-Centered Joy.
Drawing upon Scripture and the wisdom of Puritan pastor Jeremiah Burroughs, Davis shows that contentment is neither passivity nor naturally produced optimism, but a Christ-centered confidence that can be learned and practiced.
During his one-day conference, Pastor Davis will unpack the simple yet weighty truth that Christian contentment is finding delight in God’s wise plan for my life and humbly allowing him to direct me in it.
